FCC Eliminates License Posting Requirement

The FCC has eliminated the requirement for broadcasters to post their licenses for public viewing. Broadcasters will no longer have to physically post their broadcast licenses, or licenses for related facilities like broadcast auxiliary stations and remote pickup units. Licensees of LPTV, translator, and booster stations will no longer need to post at transmitter sites a station’s call sign, licensee contact information, and location of station records.

The FCC determined that these posting requirements are no longer necessary because license information is readily available through the FCC’s databases and stations’ online public inspection files.

The change will take effect upon publication of the revised rules in the Federal Register.
