The FCC is asking for comments on a proposal by a Mississippi broadcaster to create a new FM station class called “A10.” Class A10 stations would be allowed to operate at a maximum of 10,000 watts effective radiated power (ERP) and 100 meters height above average terrain (HAAT). The broadcaster that filed the proposal says the new Class A10 would allow many FM stations to improve service and better serve the public with more reliable signals. The proposal supersedes an earlier proposal that had asked for creation of a new “Class C4” for FM stations. Comments are due July 22, 2024 and reply comments will be due August 21, 2024.
