Comments Due August 2 in Media Ownership Proceeding; FCC Announces Effective Date for Reinstated Ownership Rules

The Federal Register has published the FCC’s public notice asking parties to update the record in the FCC’s 2018 Quadrennial Review Proceeding. As we previously reported, the Media Bureau is requesting comments, analyses, studies, and other materials related to the proceeding and the related ownership rules. These include the Local Radio Ownership Rule, the Local Television Ownership Rule, and the Dual Network Rule.

Comments will be due on August 2, 2021. Reply Comments will be due on August 30, 2021.

In addition, the Media Bureau has announced that the effective date for its reinstated ownership rules is June 30, 2021. These rules were reinstated following the Supreme Court’s decision in FCC v. Prometheus Radio Project.
