Earlier this year, the Radio Music License Committee (RMLC) and the performing rights organization Global Music Rights (GMR) reached an interim arrangement that allowed commercial radio stations to sign an interim license agreement to receive a nine-month reprieve from copyright infringement lawsuits for playing music licensed to GMR. These interim license agreements were set to expire September 30, 2017.
Because the litigation between RMLC and GMR remains ongoing, GMR has agreed to offer extensions of the interim license, through March 31, 2018, on the same terms as each station’s existing interim license. Stations that wish to enter into an extension must contact GMR directly. Additional details regarding the extension can be found on RMLC’s website.
If you have any questions about extending your GMR interim license, please contact any attorney in our office.
