The FCC is rescheduling its annual voluntary Disaster Information Reporting System (DIRS) refresher for DIRS filers due to the ongoing DIRS activation for Typhoon Mawar in the South Pacific. The refresher will now take place on July 6 and 7, 2023.
The refresher will include a simulated event beginning with a mock activation letter on July 5 to all DIRS participants. This letter will include a list of pre-selected counties that form the disaster area for this practice event. Participating communications providers will be asked to report data on any of their communications assets in the affected area. The FCC is asking participants to provide their initial data sets by 10:00 a.m. EDT on July 6, with an updated report filed by 10:00 a.m. EDT on July 7. The FCC will send a deactivation letter by 3:00 p.m. EDT July 7, notifying participants that the simulated event has been completed.
Providers that want to participate should email the FCC at the addresses given in the Public Notice.
