Jon assists broadcast, broadband, and communications infrastructure clients with regulatory, transactional, litigation, and policy matters, such as FCC rulemaking and enforcement proceedings, compliance, and licensing issues.
Jon began his legal career in the FCC Attorney Honors Program as an Attorney-Advisor in the Enforcement Bureau’s Spectrum Enforcement Division. He was responsible for investigating rules violations and complaints related to public safety communications network interference, radio frequency equipment authorization, unauthorized construction or operation of radio frequency equipment, 911 and enhanced 911 outages, deployment and operation of satellites, cellular network jamming/Wi-Fi blocking, and compliance with operational provisions of FCC licenses.
Jon was also detailed to the Office of the Enforcement Bureau Chief as a Legal Advisor, where he advised Bureau and Division management on FCC processes and procedures for enforcement matters related to consumer protection, TCPA/Robocalling violations, data security, disability access, 911 access, cellular/GPS jamming, equipment certification/marketing, and satellite deployment and operation.
During law school, Jon served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Stephanie M. Rose of the Southern District of Iowa, and as a law clerk on the Senate Judiciary Committee. He also worked as a student attorney in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
Jon is an Iowa native. He enjoys playing golf, working in his garden, visiting historic sites with his wife, and watching the Michigan State Spartans play football and basketball.
