In an order released today, the FCC’s Media Bureau extended the deadline to file the 2011 biennial broadcast ownership report for commercial stations (FCC Form 323) from November 1, 2011 through December 1, 2011.  The 30-day extension was adopted to provide licensees of commercial full-power AM, FM, TV and LPTV stations (including Class A stations), and entities holding attributable interests in these licensees, with “adequate time” to prepare the form, according to the Media Bureau.  The requirement that a filer’s FCC Form 323 contain information current as of October 1, 2011 remains unchanged.  Noncommercial licensees do not file biennial ownership reports on a common date, but continue to submit these reports every other year on the anniversary of the due date for the filing of their station’s renewal application.

As was the case in 2009 for the initial biennial filings submitted on the revised commercial ownership report form, each entity or individual identified in the report must have a unique FCC Registration Number (FRN) in order to complete the filing.

Should you have any questions regarding the preparation and submission of the commercial biennial ownership reports, please contact any attorney in our office.
